This course will review patient preparation, operative room preparation, surgery, post-op care, 2nd stage procedure and clean-up.

Course Content


PATIENT PREPARATION:
Prepare a patient from consent form to medications, this section is designed to fully help the doctor and staff prepare the patient for the surgical experience.

OPERATIVE ROOM PREPARATION:
This section reviews the operative room set-up, the role of doctor, staff member and the patienton day of surgery.

SURGERY:
This section is designed to demonstrate how the surgical arena is played out between surgeon and staff (with a live implant surgery demonstration).

POST-OP CARE:
Once the surgical experience is complete the comfort and care of the patient is reviewed from medications to ice packs.

2nd STAGE PROCEDURE:
Not all surgeries are the same; in this section you will learn how to prepare for minor surgical procedures such as suture removal, implant uncovering procedures and surgical revision procedures.

CLEAN UP:
A detailed look at the process of clean up, instructing your office how to protect your equipment, staff and future patients during the clean up process.

Objectives


1.  Describe the preparation for the surgical case including the roles of the sterile and non-sterile assistant.

2.  Review surgical treatment.

3.  Describe process and rationale for the cleaning of the surgical insturments.
